Portland Fashion Week is a production of Portland Fashion Council, LLC.
Portland Fashion Week was born in 2002 from a Portland fashion incubator and is now the 3rd longest running fashion week after New York and LA. Portland Fashion Week was the first fashion show in history to present 100% sustainable fashion designs, as hailed by VOGUE Magazine.
Portland is home to the most winners in Project Runway history!
The Most Respected Independent City Fashion Week in the United States
Portland Fashion Week® is an experience like no other merging a high fashion production with the Portlander appreciation for art, music, sustainable living and community involvement. As the nation’s third longest running fashion week behind New York and Los Angeles, and recently named the #1 Major City Fashion Week to attend, will celebrate its 10 year anniversary September 2013 with a renewed vision, a new downtown Portland location and change in management.
With the top-notch guest list and global media coverage, Portland Fashion Week® reaches nearly 2 million consumers a year, and continues to grow every year.
The mission of Portland Fashion Week® is to enhance the region’s apparel design and retail economy by marketing Portland as a preferred fashion creating and buying destination.
Re-envisioned from the ground up in 2012, meet the new Portland Fashion Week®!
Designer Selection Process
Designers will submit their designs to a carefully selected panel of fashion experts, buyers, editors, and producers, who will evaluate all submissions, and chose the best and brightest to showcase on the Portland Fashion Week® Runway. Unlike previous years, designers chosen to be a part of Portland Fashion Week® will not be responsible for production costs, instead a contributing to the model compensation fee will grant their line admission.
Giving Back to the Community
Portland Fashion Week® will dedicate each of the 5 nights of fashion to a different local charity. Highlighting their mission and goals, each spotlighted organization will receive a portion of Portland Fashion Week® proceeds as well as public donations to their cause
Honoring Mother Earth – Environmental Ethos
We believe that Portland Fashion Week® needs to recommit and re-integrate a concept all Portlanders respect: an environmental ethos.
Though lauded for our previous work, we will be incorporating additional sustainable aspects to the production of Portland Fashion Week®. From our brand new sustainable bamboo runway, to offsetting our carbon footprint with the world’s only fashion week carbon mitigation replanting project, to featuring low consumptive LED lighting, on-site recycling program, commitment to recycled printing and business practices, locally crafted and distilled beers, wines and spirits and fusing regional and seasonal foods in our gourmet catering. We want to showcase what makes Portland not only unique and fashionable, but livable as well.
Giving Retailers a Chance to Shine Too
Portland has much to offer, including some of the best independent boutiques in the country. Retailers will have the ability to submit their boutique for runway show consideration. Retailers as well as designers will have the ability to submit their boutique for runway show consideration.
Change in the Executive Production Team
The executive team has seen a change in membership. Founding member, Tod Foulk, will remain, adding new members Sarabeth Chambers and Jessica Kane to the team. Team biographies are included below. Former producers, Tito Chowdhury and Chris Cone, are no longer with Portland Fashion Week®. Previous reports that Portland Fashion Week® had been renamed FASHIONxT are false. FASHIONxT is the separate production of former Portland Fashion Week® producer Mr. Chowdhury, and is not affiliated in any way with Portland Fashion Week®.
