HELP STOP THE YEMENI WAR!
It is no secret that Portland Fashion Week champions a cause, and this is one which we have mourned for years. From our friends at Demand Progress:
THIS CAN'T WAIT: We have only a few days to pressure the Senate to end US-involvement in the brutal war in Yemen! Click here to tell your senator to get on board.
The Saudi-led war in Yemen has killed an estimated 377,000 people and exposed tens of millions to horrific famine. All while using US weapons, intelligence, and assistance.
Senator Bernie Sanders is bringing a War Powers Resolution up for a vote in a matter of days. That's why it's so critical that you tell your senator to vote to end US support for the war in Yemen!
So long as the US supports Saudi Arabia with billions of dollars in weaponry and military contracts, we are actively supporting a repressive regime that imprisons and murders dissidents, that is helping Russia fund its war in Ukraine, and that is perpetrating one the world’s worst humanitarian disasters.
President Biden has said he is looking to work with Congress to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for siding with Putin in the war on Ukraine and its oil price hike for the United States. The Yemen War Powers Resolution provides the last clear opportunity for Biden to hold Saudi Arabia accountable on these fronts, and is a direct, measured congressional response to Saudi Arabia and Mohammed bin Salman for their human rights violations, including the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Thanks for taking action,
Izzi and the team at Demand Progress
